The Allen Grove Fund committee of the Kent Archaeology Society is pleased to congratulate Jonathan Tickle on his prize-winning article: Changing Queenships in 10th Century England: Rhetoric and (Self ) Representation in the Case of Eadgifu at Kent in Cooling

Jonathan’s paper received support from the Allen Grove Fund in 2022 after he applied for assistance with some of his research expenses. The completed article was accepted and published in *Early Medieval Europe*, Volume 31, Issue 4, a prestigious interdisciplinary journal in medieval studies.

The article was also reviewed in Archaeologia Cantiana, 2024, Volume 145.

We are delighted that Jonathan’s article has achieved significant recognition through two prestigious awards. At the 2024 International Medieval Conference in Leeds, he was jointly honoured with the Early Medieval Europe First Publication Prize, showcasing the impact of his work, and he also received the esteemed Royal Historical Society’s Alexander Prize. This acknowledgement highlights the importance of his contributions to the field.

Jonathan expressed his gratitude: “Thank you for the help the KAS provided. The grant was extremely useful. I’m not sure the article would have been possible without it.”
