Archaeological Mitigation
KAS Archaeological Services offers budget-friendly mitigation services for sites with historical environmental planning requirements.
Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI)
A Written Scheme of Investigation is a key document required in advance of any archaeological fieldwork. It outlines the scope, methodology, and objectives of the proposed work, ensuring that archaeological responses are proportionate to the potential impact of development. Our WSIs are tailored to each site, meeting the specific requirements of Local Planning Authorities and national standards such as those set by Historic England and the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA).
Watching Brief
A Watching Brief involves the monitoring of groundworks by a qualified archaeologist to identify and record any archaeological remains that may be encountered during construction. This approach is often used where there is a moderate potential for archaeological deposits, or where full excavation is not required. Our responsive and efficient team ensures minimal disruption to construction schedules while maintaining high standards of recording and reporting.
Historic Building Recording
Historic Building Recording is essential when development impacts listed or heritage-designated structures. We provide comprehensive documentation—including photographic records, measured drawings, and written descriptions—that captures the architectural and historical significance of buildings. Our reports meet the specifications of Historic England’s Level 1–4 recording standards and are suitable for planning conditions, heritage statements, or conservation plans.
