The Allen Grove Fund committee of the Kent Archaeology Society is pleased to congratulate Jonathan Tickle on his prize-winning article: Changing Queenships in 10th Century England: Rhetoric and (Self) Representation in the Case of Eadgifu at Kent in Cooling.

Craig Campbell, currently our Society’s Archivist, will be stepping into the role of Editor for the KAS Magazine.

The Society has successfully secured a grant of £40,000 for the groundbreaking archaeological project titled "Silence of the Sentinels: The Violent End of Roman Britain's Coastal Defences c. 400 AD" in North Yorkshire.

The Benefact Group, part of the Benefact Trust have a limited draw for nominated charities to receive £5,000 towards Heritage and Art projects.

The KAS is very pleased to announce the start of a long-term student placement which will be illustrating some of our varied archaeological collection.

Tales of Forgotten Kent by Malcolm Horton, published by the History Press, is a collection of twenty two essays about the people and events that have largely been neglected by historians, but are part of Kent’s rich tapestry as the “Garden of England” and its location as the gateway to Europe and the New World.

The Society is pleased to announce that we have been awarded an Association of Independent Museums (AIM) and Pilgrim Trust Conservation Audit Grant in their recent award round!

The Society officially has its own branded van! The van allows the Society to bring equipment to site increasing the amount of tools we can use for volunteers, school visits, etc. It also saves us needing to hire expensive vans every season. Hopefully the new stickers will increase awareness of the county as we travel to sites, school visits and exhibitions.

The Kent Archaeological Society is resuming its investigation into the Prehistoric landscape at Lees Court Estate in 2024.

The archive of monographs, irregulars and documents of the Romney Marsh Research Trust (RMRT) are now available on the Society website.

Starting in the 2023 project season, the Kent Archaeological Society has begun to record excavations and collections with 3D photogrammetry and laser scanning. Models are made available online via the Sketchfab platform and the Society website.
