1. Welcome

A. Welcome to Sean O’Conner who has attended his first meeting.

2. Acceptance of the Minutes of 24th June 2025

A. Forum
i. 2026
1. Possible topics: Practical post-ex, opportunities in Kent
2. Many affiliate and small groups are stuck with large archives, not knowing where to go, how to draw, how to publish etc.
3. Multiple routes to publication, not necessarily a full monograph.
4. Practical post-excavation theme for 2026: Pottery processing, CBM Processing, Drawing, Levels of Publication, Should we dig?

B. Conference
i. 22nd November 2025, Aylesford Priory: Thanet & North East Kent
1. Draft Programme produced; waiting on confirmed titles and abstracts

C. Other Events
i. 25th October 2025, Aylesford Priory — Metal Detecting in Kent: Moving Forward Together
1. Programme agreed and social media promotion planned.
2. LEGIS E displaying, five metal detecting clubs, PAS, KAS

4. Budget

Waiting to hear from Rebecca and Trustees.

5. Grant Applications and Payments

A. Nat Cohen – Waiting on Payment Information
B. Adelina Teoaca – Waiting on results
C. Stephen Greep – Grant application approved; to be sent to RF.

6. Fieldwork Projects

A. Lees Court Estate
i. Excavation carried out between May and June on Badlesmere Park Barrow
ii. Barrow not proven, but more work ongoing.
iii. Interim report sent through to KAS magazine for next publication.
iv. Next year's work provisionally put forward for Badlesmere IV hoard site.
v. 3D scan of Lees Court Dene Hole completed; waiting on permissions to make online.

B. Front Brents
i. Publication scheduled for Arch Cant, report nearly complete.
ii. 3D virtual model of the trench is available on the KAS website.

C. Kent Sites Guide
i. Way to engage KAS membership.
ii. Integration with Heritage at Risk project?
iii. Issues with quality control, access, KAS responsibility.
iv. Open Call as well as shortlisted sites?
v. Rules for engagement.

7. Youth Engagement

A. Young Archaeologists Club
i. Bexley and Canterbury YAC are active.
ii. Bexley considering name change
iii. How do we move away from the misconception that YACs are not competent on site?

B. Students
i. UKC Archaeology Day
ii. BAJR Skills Passport
iii. What site projects can KAS have where students can be involved?
iv. Is there funding in place for excavations – steerage from trustees needed?
