Robin Hereford

Viscount Robin Hereford has worked in the fine art and antiques industry for 28 years, specialising in valuation and client advisory work. Having spent 26 years at Bonhams Auctioneers in a series of roles, he is currently Chairman of Fellows Auctioneers and an independent art consultant to MEUM Private. He writes for several publications and has helped curate exhibitions ranging from Grinling Gibbons and Roman silver to 19th century British art and Chinese porcelain.

With a lifelong interest in British history, Robin has a deep appreciation for the ways in which successive societies have shaped - and been shaped by - our landscape. He is committed to the principles that underpin the discipline of archaeology: the ethics of responsible excavation, the preservation of heritage and the vital role that societies such as KAS play in safeguarding and interpreting our historic environment. He is a strong advocate for community engagement and the power of archaeology to communicate history in ways that are both accessible and meaningful.

His experience in strategic governance, risk awareness and organisational oversight, alongside experience across the museum, gallery and art advisory world, specialist knowledge of objects, craftsmanship, provenance and valuation, will complement the existing expertise of the Trustees, strengthening the Society’s work around collection interpretation, conservation and heritage protection.
