Members of the Kent Archaeological Society photographed at Dover on the 22nd June, 1927
Here's a bit of a #ThrowbackThursday from our Archivist Craig!
Members of the Kent Archaeological Society photographed at Dover on the 22nd June, 1927.
The Annual Report in Archaeologia Cantiana Vol XL (1928) reports that around 160 members and friends attended Dover and neighbourhood on the 22nd and 23rd June.
This photograph is likely the one mentioned as having been taken in the grounds of Dover Priory, part of the lunchtime visit having already viewed @maisondieudover and having had lunch at the Town Hall. The members then drove to Dover Castle where the party were guided by Mr Philip M. Johnston, F.S.A.
This was finished with a dinner before a second day of excursions to churches in the surrounding area.
If anyone can recognise the members in the photograph, please do let us know!
