Membership connects you to a community of researchers, historians, and enthusiasts, and gives you access to the resources, knowledge, and opportunities that support both your own interests and the Society’s work.
Publications and research
Members receive access to the Society’s latest publications, including the annual scholarly journal Archaeologia Cantiana and the KAS Magazine.
These provide authoritative research, excavation reports, new discoveries, and accessible articles on Kent’s rich past—keeping you informed about ongoing work and developments across the county. Whether you are a professional researcher or an enthusiastic amateur, they offer a direct connection to current archaeological and historical scholarship.
Library and archive access
Membership also provides access to the Kent Archaeological Society Library and Archive, housed at Maidstone Museum. This extensive collection includes rare books, historic documents, excavation reports, maps, photographs, and specialist research material relating to Kent’s archaeology and local history.
Whether you are undertaking academic research, exploring local heritage, or following a personal interest, the library and archive offer an exceptional resource not widely available elsewhere.
Events, community, and participation
Members receive regular updates about lectures, conferences, field trips, and events organised by the Society and its affiliated groups across Kent. These provide opportunities to learn from leading historians and archaeologists, visit historic sites, and connect with others who share your interests.
You will also hear about opportunities to take part more directly, including archaeological excavations, field surveys, research projects, and wider heritage initiatives. Through these, membership offers not just access to knowledge, but the chance to actively contribute to the discovery, preservation, and sharing of Kent’s past.
