WINDRUSH settlement, citizenship and belonging

Dr John Price

Friday 25th July 2025 at 7.30pm

Over a thousand passengers disembarked from the Empire Windrush on 22 June 1948, and for many it marked the start of a new life in Britain. Twenty-eight of the passengers gave Kent forwarding addresses and John will talk about what he discovered about these people and their experiences. Their tale, however, is part of a longer and more complex story of migration, settlement, citizenship, and belonging; a fascinating story that will be explored in the talk.
