KAS & LEGISE Metal Detecting Conference - Save the Date!

The Kent Archaeological Society’s Archaeology Research Group & Landscape Explorers Group in the South East (LEGISE) are once again pleased to host a joint conference focused on Metal Detecting & Archaeology, building on the success of our inaugural held in 2025.

This years conference will be held at Lenham Community Centre, 12 Groom Way, Maidstone ME17 2QT.

The full programme is currently being drafted but will follow the same format as last year with plenty of opportunity to view displays from metal detecting clubs affiliated with LEGISE and archaeological displays.

10.15 – 10.30, Welcome by Keith Parfitt, Chair of the Archaeology Research Group

10.30 – 11.15, Viewing of displays and meeting different groups

11.15 – 11.50, Keith Parfitt and David Barwell; History in two halves: A Case Study from St Margarets at Cliffe

11.50 – 12.15, Viewing of displays and meeting different groups

12.15 – 13.00, Lunch (make own arrangements - shops are a short walk or drive from the community centre)

13.00 - 13.30 Andrew Richardson, FLO; Title to be confirmed

13.30 – 14.00, Viewing of displays and meeting different groups

14.00 – 14.30, A focus on Roman Coins (TBC)
