Harvest Workshop

At this time of year our farmers are busy bringing in the harvest, whether it is wheat, apples or hops. But have you ever considered the origin of corn dollies or harvest tokens? These were so important to our ancestors and have been made throughout history and across the world, for as long as man has cultivated the land.

This year at the Zion Baptist Church, Smarden, Sophie Leathart and Dawn Bradford will be demonstrating how to make dollies or tokens and you will be able to have a go yourself. Why not come along and join us and make your own dolly or token to give to a friend?

Refreshments will be served. Places are complimentary, but donations towards the work of the church would be appreciated.

Sophie and Dawn have known each other for over 15 years having bonded over their love of flowers, cookery and crafts. They are trained florists and love working with natural materials to produce interesting and quirky displays.

Sophie and Dawn will also be putting together an arrangement for the Zion Church Harvest Festival to be held on 5th October 6.00pm which will include corn dollies, so don’t forget to come along and see the wonderful display in the Church.
