Bygone Days of Hothfield

  • St Margaret's Church, Hothfield Hothfield, England, TN26 1EL United Kingdom (map)

An exhibition by Hothfield History Society at St. Margaret’s Church, Hothfield.

An exhibition of the history of our beautiful 13th century church, Hothfield Place and its estate, and the Lords and Ladies who lived there. Free entry, 10am to 4pm.

There will be displays about the nearby Manor (demolished in 1954), the stables of the former estate and its grounds, and some of the notable characters buried in the churchyard. There will be some photos of the army occupation of the nearby stables, as well as the Norland nurses briefly evacuated from London to the Manor before the army moved in. There will be a display of some of the many items found by metal detector in the Parkland.

The belfry will be open, however, due to its narrow, winding staircase, only the fit and able (over 12years young) will be permitted access.

The Friends of St. Margaret’s Church will be providing delicious homemade cakes, savouries and refreshments to buy and enjoy in the historic surroundings.

We look forward to seeing you there.
