A Celebration of the Life, Work and Legacies of Ivan Margary (1896-1976)

On Saturday October 3rd this year CBA South-East in association with Sussex Archaeology and History will be holding a hybrid (live and online) conference at Kings Church, Lewes in memory of Ivan Donald Margary who died in 1976, was the national expert on Roman Roads in Britain, and who during and after his life made very generous gifts to a wide range of causes, including the purchase of the Fishbourne Roman Palace site and its transfer to the Sussex Archaeological Society.

The aim of this memorial conference is to celebrate the life and work of Ivan Margary, and to highlight some of the major Margary legacies.

The Speakers are David Calow, Nathalie Cohen, Mike Haken, Professor Tony King, David Millum, Mark Roberts, Dr David Rudling, Dr Miles Russell, and Professor Naomi Sykes.
