#MuseumMonday: Behind the Scenes
A behind the scenes post for #MuseumMonday.
Our curator Andy has been busy repacking the archive from our Trosley Roman villa project (2022-2023). He has separated the finds into their types with boxes for Ceramic Building Material (CBM), Metalwork, Painted Wall Plaster, Animal Bone etc. This will allow for easier retrieval of material for specialist analysis as part of the post excavation process.
As you can see we have a variety of box types consisting of Really-Useful boxes and Acid-Free archive boxes. Eventually, with the help of funding, it is hoped to be able to package all our bulk material into Acid-Free boxes. This will make better use of the space available to us and follows the advice given to the society as a result of The Pilgrims Trust and Association of Independent Museums Conservation Audit Grant.
Stay tuned for more on future re-packing projects the society wishes to undertake with the help of volunteers.
