Affiliate status is available to groups and societies carrying out work similar to that of the Kent Archaeological Society. It offers a way for organisations to stay connected to the Society’s research, publications, activities, and wider community, while contributing to a shared effort to understand, protect, and promote Kent’s archaeology and history.
Publications and shared knowledge
Affiliate organisations receive copies of the Society’s publications, including Archaeologia Cantiana and the KAS Magazine. These provide authoritative research, excavation reports, discoveries, and updates on archaeological and historical work taking place across Kent, helping affiliated groups remain informed and connected to current scholarship and activity.
Representation and involvement
Affiliates are also able to take part in the Society’s governance and wider work. Each affiliated organisation may nominate a representative to attend and vote at the Society’s general meetings, giving affiliated groups a voice in discussions about the Society’s activities and future direction. This helps strengthen cooperation between local societies, research groups, and heritage organisations across the county.
Equipment and opportunities
Affiliate organisations may also make use of the Society’s survey equipment, including GNSS and magnetometer systems, in support of archaeological fieldwork and research projects. In addition, members of affiliated groups can usually benefit from the same discounted rates for KAS conferences, lectures, and events as individual members, encouraging wider participation in the study and preservation of Kent’s heritage.
Affiliate Membership costs £50 per year
By affiliating with the Society, groups and organisations become part of a wider network dedicated to supporting research, collaboration, and the preservation of Kent’s past.
