Sir I have sent you herwithe mine owne notes of bothe// my ioneys/ the firste xiij th November 1588 wherby ye/ shall p[er]ceyve Bothe the names of all the ham[m]ers &/ furnaces in Kent and also the owners because/ I had none instrucons certayne And therfor inforced/ to go to any one to see who made any pece of ordinance/ & to take bands of theym// But at my seconde/ ioney I went onely to the furnaces that made/ ordenance// And toke the number of theym/ of all sortes// As ye shall p[er]ceyve by my papers/ praye eny yon that when ye have don withe/ theym, to sende theym to me agayne// and/ so withe moste hartie Commendac[i]ons to you/ & my good ladye, I leave you bothe to the/ [illegible] of the Almyghtie// Wroteh[a]m the vij/ [illegible] of October 1590/
