Some Monumental Inscriptions of Stourmouth Church,  Noted by Rev Bryan Faussett noted 1760

In The Chancell.
1. On a Flat Stone.
[Erm. a saltire, at fesse point a ring]. (no tinctures). M. Johannes POWELL Rector de Sturmouth, Com. Cant. posuit hoc Marmor, in Memoriam Annae Uxoris mortuae A.D. 1674 Maij 20. Filiae D. Morgani WINNE Archidiacon. Lincoln. Martyris in Causâ Regiâ, Temporibus iniquissimi Belli, A.D. 1645 . sub Spe beatae Resurrectionis Ortus olim Progenie Comitis Desmond OSBORN, Hibernici. Neere unto This Place, under the Stone on the North Side, lieth the Body of Mr John Powell, Rector of Stowermouth. he died Novemb. the first, An. Dom. 1680 aged 74 Yeares.

2. On a Brass Plate, under The Brass Fig. of a Preist, fixt to a flat Stone, with this Coat – another Coat has been on ye Stone, but is now lost.
[2 bars wavy ermine]. (no tinctures).
Hic Jacet Magister Thomas MANEYS, (error for MAREYS) Clericus, nup Rector istiu Eccliae, qui obijt quinto decimo Die Decembris, Anno Dni. Millimo CCCCXXII
(1472) cujus Aie ppicietur Deus. Amen.

3. On Another Flat Stone. In Memory of Thomas BEAKE, of This Parish, Gent: he was twice married, but, without Issue. he died suddenly, in the strictest Sense, being alive, in Health, and dead, in the same Moment. Oct. 11 Ann. Aet. 65. Salutis, 1734. He was a Person truly beloved and esteemed for his many excellent Vertues. To his Wives; ever kind and affectionate. To his Relations; fond and beneficent. To his Neighbours; friendly, sincere, and courteous. To The truly poor; humane, and charitable. To all; just, good-natured, chearfull, and obliging. To his God; a faithfull, devout, humble Servant. One who took due Pains to learn his Duty; and, did more – He practised it. More might be said of him with Justice; Less could not: since Envy must own he was a sweet temper’d virtuous Man and a good Christian.

In The Body.
6. On a Flat Stone. Here lieth The Body of Henry JENKEN, of this Parish. Hee married Martha Daugr. of William MARSHALL, by whome hee had 1 Daughter, Margaret. Hee died Sept. 18 1679 aged 60 Yeares.

7. On Another. In Memeory of Thomas LARKING late of this Parish; who, by his first Wife, Anne, the Daughter of William LUCKETT of Preston, had 2 Sons, and 1 Daughter. Thomas, William, and Anne. by his second, Mary, the Daughter of William ANDREWS of Nonington, he had Mary, William, Andrews, Frances, and Austen. He died 23 Aug. 1751 aged 44.

8. One large Flat Stone without Inscription.

In The South Isle.
9. On a Flat Stone. here lieth The Body of Master Thomas HARRISON Gentleman, desesed in the Yeare of our Lord 1663.

10. On Another. here lyeth Francis Probyn Son of the Revd. Hopton WILLIAMS Rector of this Parish. ob. July 1 1734 aged 6 Months and odd days.

11. In The Church Yard are Memorials of CARTER, CULMER, GIBBS, MOUNT, NORWOOD, SPRATT, STARK and STODDARD.

12. This Church consists of The Chancell, Body, and 2 side Isles. The Steeple is at the West End of The Body – in which hang 3 Bells; 2 of them made by Joseph HATCH 1605, 1638. The other by William CARTER 1613.

13. This Church was dedicated to All Saints. It is a Rectory in the Patronage of the Bishop of Rochester.

14. The present Rector is ……/1760.
