Smarden Local History Society 'Talk and Walk'

In order to minimise any health risk to our members and indeed, to the village community, we have with regret decided to cancel next Thursday's talk.

We hope to reschedule the talk on a future occasion and will of course keep you posted.

We apologise for any inconvenience

If you have recently moved to Smarden or maybe just want to find out more about your village’s past, join us on the afternoon of Saturday April 18th for a special History Society Talk and Walk event. We’ll tell you how the village went from obscurity to prosperity, the story of its houses, with special emphasis on The Street and Water Lane, and the lives of some of the fascinating people who have lived here.

The event begins with an illustrated talk at The Charter Hall and is followed by a gentle stroll along The Street to the Church for a guided tour there. The whole programme is expected to last for about 2 and a half hours, it is suitable for all ages and it is free to attend.

All you have to do is email us at smardenlife@gmail.com telling us how many people you would like to book for (so just give us your name and the total number of people coming including yourself).

We will confirm to you your start time as soon as we know the final numbers attending, as we may need to organise more than one group, but at this stage we expect things to start between 2 and 4 pm.
