ROGER GODESTRE, Friday in the feast of St. Michael the Archangel 1368. My body to the earth. I leave to the high altar of Chellisfelde 40d. To the fabric (fabrice) of the same church 20s. To the chaplain there 2s. and the clerk 12d. To the ‘fabrice’ of the church of Okolte 5s., the chaplain there 12d. To the Parson of the church of Halstede 40d. to celebrate a trentall according to the new mode. To the ‘fabrice’ of the church of Farnbergh 5s. and the chaplain there 12d. I leave to the man carrying to the Abbey of Languedon on the day of my death the writing because I am a brother of that house 5s. I leave for masses to be celebrated for my soul and the souls of my father Roger and Alice (? his mother) and Amise sometime my wife and Alice my daughter and all faithful departed 10 marcs between the Orders of friars in London to be done in all haste, so that the Friars Preachers have 5 marcs because I am one of their brothers the Friars Minors two marcs, the Friars of St. Augustine 20s. and the Carmelite Friars 20s., to be done specially by bill.
I leave for my expenses on the day of my burial 40s. To Roger my son £10, a bed, gown, 12 wethers and 12 mother sheep, a sword, bow and arrows. To Richard Colyn ‘statuta mea portativa’ and ‘maiora statuta cum placitis et Registrum cum placitis’. To the church of Chellisfeld ‘librum sentenciarum ’ligatum, librum misteriorum cum diversis necessariis in eadem et librum qui incipet de iure canonico’ that that they may be observed in the church there by ‘sacerdotibus simplicibus inde erudiendis’. I leave Ongelard Herlison and old ‘goune’ furred with hood and 40d. To William my son atte Doune (? at Downe) a furred coat and a quarter of wheat and half a marc. To John my bastard son of Edelmpton a furred coat and a quarter of wheat. To Juliana Brenston a quarter of wheat. To Walter late my attendant (famulo) a furred coat with hood. To John Sawyer 40d. To John atte Lese 2s. and to his two sons 4 bushells of wheat. I leave Bekedoun 2s. and each other of my attendants 12d. Residue to Alice my wife. Executors: The said Alice, Richard Colyn and William Taillour de Doune and to the said Richard and William each 20s. Memorandum that in the feast of the Assumption of Blessed Mary 1368 there remained of the goods of Roger Godestre in an old chest £20. In the same chest in bags ‘cum pixide depicta’ 20 marcs of gold. Item in a casket with my deeds in two little boxes 20 marcs of gold. "Item lecto meo sub pedibus uxoris mee X marc". 
Proved 10 October 1368 in the chapel of St. Bartholomew of Otteford, in the Deanery of Shorham and administration granted to Richard Colyn and William Taillour of Doune, with reserved power for Alice relict ‘cum venerit’. Further Stephen Edolf of Halstede with the express consent of the executors was made supervisor. (120b Langham).
