JOHN LUDDHAM, Rector of the parish church of Godmersham and Master of the Hospital of the New Work of Maydeston, 24 September 1389. To be buried at Aschrugge in the chapel of St. Katherine newly founded. For all expenses about my sepulture £10. I leave for the expenses of the carriage of my body to Asshrugge and for masses etc. £20. I leave to two chaplains to celebrate for my soul and for the soul of John Whitelyf and all my benefactors for a year after my decease 20 marcs. To the rector of Asshrugge 20s. To each brother of the same house to pray specially for my soul 6s. 8d. To Sir Thomas atte Wode 20s., John Drayton chaplain 6s. 8d. To the poor graduates of Oxford studying according as my executors shall see fit 60s. I leave 20s. to be distributed between the poor at Godmersham, 10s. at Challok, 10s. at Farlegh, 10s. at Linton, 20s. at Treng (Herts). I leave to my poor scholars "in hospicio" existing at the time of my death to each 3s. 4d. To the Abbat of Boxley one pair of knives with ornamented handles of ‘Aumbr’. I leave 100s. to be distributed between needy monks of the same house for my soul. 
To Master Thomas Saunterdon £20, a portous covered with cloth of gold, a girdle of silk ornamented with ‘indico’ with silver and gilt with a purse of black velvet, two robes of murrey furred with two cloaks one furred with smooth fur and the other lined with scarlet, one gown of scarlet furred with ‘grise’ and a hood lined with murrey, one ‘cologam’of scarlet furred with menever, a bed ‘blodii coloris’ with half a celure and 3 ‘curteins’ and 4 tapestries of the same suit with two pairs of sheets, a piece of silver with cover signed in the midst "cum armis domini" and a mazer with cover. I leave to Nicholas Elyngham £10, a piece of silver with cover a hauberk "cum ciroceiis lamineis" one ‘poll ax’ a basin and ewer. I leave to Thomas Boteller chaplain 100s. one great breviary, for the term of his life and after his death to remain to the church of Godmersham for ever. To Richard Bonde 60s. and one piece of silver. To Thomas Gentilcors 100s. and a blue (blodium) bed with ‘capitali’ (?overhang) of the same suit, a blanket, mattress and pair of sheets. To John Boteller 40s. and a green bed with head of the same suit, a mattress and a pair of sheets. To John Gappe 40s., Walter Cloppham 20s. To the Carmelite Friars of Earlisford (Aylesford) 20 and of London 20s. Executors the venerable and religious men Sir John Hariettesham Abbot of Boxle and Ralph Flaythewall rector of the House of Asshrugg and three seculars viz Master Thomas Saunterdon, Thomas Boteler chaplains and Nicholas Elyngham Esquire. Dated at Maydeston. 
Proved 20 June 1390 by Sir Thomas Boteler chaplain with reserved power for others. (236a Courteney).
He was a Prebendary of St. Paul’s London.
