JOHN CLEMENT of Gillingham, 28 April 1407. To be buried in the churchyard of Blessed Mary of Gillyngham "iuxta dimisionem" of John Thorp. To the vicar there for tithes 6d. To the high work (summo operi) of the church 40d. To the chapel of Saint Nicholas in which the forefathers of Thomas de Gillyngham continually sat 40d. To the vicar of the said church to celebrate for my soul 2s. To each chaplain in the said church celebrating 1d. 
To all vicars priests and others attending at my funeral and remaining for my sepulture I will they come to my house and there have each of them 1s. and each two bread and ale and a sufficient mess to sustain them according to the ruling of my executors. 
To each poor person residing in the parish of Gillyngham a halfpenny. At the commemoration of my month’s day to each Rector and priest coming there to celebrate for my soul who are of the parishes of Gillyngham, Chetham, Westrenham, (Rainham), Bradhirst and Gren to have 1d. and two competent messes as arranged by my executors and each poor person coming 1d. To the vicar of Gillyngham to celebrate for my soul 2s. To John Dene, chaplain there to celebrate for my soul 12d. I will that they have six torches burning before and around my body whilst it is in the church.
Residue to remain to Gregory de Ballard, William de Makenade, John Beaufitz, John Thorp, Thomas Podney, Willm Thorp, and Isabella my wife whom I ordain executors. Dated at Lamhith. Proved 1 May 1407 at Lamhith "the will of John Clement of Gillyngham ‘domicelli nostri’ deceased by Isabella relict with reserved power for the others". (239b Arundel I).
