JOHN LANGDON, by Divine permission humble minister of the church of Rochester etc., asking for the prayers of the most glorious Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew the apostle and the glorious martyr Thomas of Canterbury and All Saints I leave my soul to Almighty God its creator and my most merciful Redeemer. My body to be buried in our Church of Rochester in the nave of the church between two columns next to the end of the chapel of the Blessed Mary the Virgin in the nave of the church. To the reparation of the roof of the nave of our church of Rochester £20. To each of my Brethren of the same church 20d. and to the Prior 20s. I leave to the most reverend in Christ Father and Lord the Lord Henry, dei gracia Archbishop of Canterbury at present a silver cup to the value of £20. To the most reverend in Christ John dei gratia Archbishop of York a cup price £10. To Master John Gorewell 40s. To each of my ‘confratres’ of Christ Church Canterbury 3s. 4d. To the Nuns of St. Sepulchre Canterbury 26s. 8d. 
To my brother Richard Langdon 40s. To the Monastery of St. Martin of Battle 40s., the monastery of St. Augustine Canterbury 40s., Wm. Hebbenge 20s., the Monastery of St. Martin Douorr 20s., the Monastery of Tonebrigge 20s., of Lesnes 20s., the College of Cobham 20s., the Monastery of Mallyng, Rochester Diocese 20s. To Christ Church Canterbury £15 for a processional cope. To the parish church of Harnell (Hernehill) next Bocton subtus le Blen for a vestment or chalice 20s. To the Convent of Carmelite Friars of Aylesford 20s. 
To Margery Langdon 40s. To Sir Wm. Waltham rector of Sowflete 20s., Henry Tenaker 20s., John Tenaker 20s. To the wife of William Bedynden sister of the said Henry and John 20s. To two of our godsons, sons of the honourable and discreet men John Martyn our executor 40s. To William Banbury 40s., Wm. Petir 20s., John Baubor, learned in the law, 20s. To Robert Reynold 13s. 4d., Richard Godfray 26s. 8d. To each of our Esquires with us at our death and in our service 20s. and to other servants to each valet 6s. 8d., each groom 5s. To Master Wm. Barnet 20s. To each of our executors 100s. To the Warden and Society of the College of Canterbury at Oxford 20s. 
I leave to the daughter of my brother Thomas Langdon my niece £20 whether she wishes to enter the service of God in Religion or to be married. If the daughter of my brother aforesaid dies before our death the above sum to be disposed for the souls of my parents and my brothers in pious works. Above all I ordain that my executors keep my household by day and night as well at table as in dwelling for a whole month and three days after my decease if we happen to die within the Realm of England and in the same way if outside the Kingdom and our body brought to our church of Rochester or of Canterbury by the clemency of God – If I die within the Kingdom I will that £10 be distributed to the poor on the day of my death. To each chaplain celebrating 6d. if he wishes it for his trouble. Executors, The Reverend Father in Christ and Lord William Alnewik Bishop of Norwich, "The Venerable and Religious man" Sir Wm. Molassh Prior of Christ Church Canterbury and the "honourable and circumspect man" John Martyn Justiciar of our Lord the King, John Stopynton clerk of the Hanaper, rector of Wikham, Sir Thomas Fauks rector of the church of St. Bride, London and Sir Thomas Towe rector of Woldham. Supervisor, whom I pray to accept, The Most Reverend in Christ Father and Lord the Lord Henry Archbishop of Canterbury. Residue after completing and repairing what is required belonging to the Bishopric of Rochester I leave to my executors to dispose for my soul. Witnesses Master Robert Dobbys, John Stone, Wm. Banbury of Exeter and Lincoln Dioceses. Dated in our Manor of Trottysclyue 2 March 1433.
