JOHN BRIKLISWORTH of Sandwich, 6 July 1420. To be buried
where God shall dispose. I leave to Sir Stephen Modenden who was Rector of the
parish church of Westynghanger for tithes etc. 20s. To the rector of the parish
church of Mongham for tithes 40d. To Sir John Batyne, canon of the monastery of
Langdon for tithes 20s. To Sir John Asshford canon of the same place 5 marcs. To
Sir John Canterbery, canon of the same place for tithes 6s. 8d. To the Abbot of
Langdon my vestment with all the belongings as it stands. To Richard Couper of
the Abbey of Langdon a furred gown of Scarlet. To Alice wife of the said Richard
Couper a pair of beads of gold with a gold ‘Broche’. To Richard Brogh
(tailor or shearman) (cissor) of the Abbey of Langdon 6s. 8d. To Robert Bate of
the parish of West Langdon 6s. 8d. To John Boon of the same parish 6s. 8d. To
Thomas Malkyn of the same 6s. 8d. To William Stepyndon of Canterbury, butcher
6s. 8d. To Thomas Reson of Sandwich 12d To Thomas Stelman, canon of the
Monastery of Langdon a ‘primar’. To the said John Batyne canon there "j
docer with ij coster". To Thomas Batyne a green gown with green hood and
two doblets with a pair of boots and 6s. 8d. Residue to Sir John Sare, chaplain
and executor that he may dispose for my soul and my parents.
Proved before the lord Prior of Christ Church Canterbury 27 July 1420 by Sir
John Sare executor. (338a Chichele I).
