Robert Evernden, 31 August 1558 of Benenden. To be buried in churche yarde. To high altar 12d. To poore mennes boxe there 3s 4d. At my burying & monethes mynde 20s. To Alyce my doughter £20 at her maryage. To Mercye my doughter £30 at her maryage. If they die then between my fower sonnes Wyllyam, John, Rychard & Allyn. To each two oxen. Residue to Margarett my wyef whom I make executryxe and John Bysshopp of Battell executor. Witnesses Mychell Ragatt & Leonard Ragatt.
Last will: of my tenements etc. To Margarett my wyef my house I now dwell in in Benenden in the name of her dowerye and after her decease to John Evernden my sonne. An annuytie of 40s to each of my three sonnes Wyllyam, Rychard & Allyn that is 13s 4d to eyther of them with distraint for want of payment on my landes called Oldtowne in Benenden of 18 acres. To Wyllyam my sonne my fee symple howse & lands in Frythenden when 21, also £6.3.6 or one annuytie of £3.6.8 out of two messuages, two gardeyns and five peces of lande in Gowdeherst upon the dens of Tryllngherst & Lytell Gowdeherst in occupacon of Symon Sabbe and £10 or annuytie of 13s 4d out of one mesuage and one pece of land of Rychard Blake called Tockinghole meade of 5 acres lyinge in Gowdehurst upon the denne of Rockherst.
To Rychard my sonne one mesuage, one gardeyn & too peacys of land in Horsmunden upon the denne of Beyghenden I late purchased of one John Fowle. Also £40 or one annuytie of 53s 4d out of all landes & tenements of Wyllyam Horsemanden in the parish of Horsemanden when 21. Also £30 or one anuytie of 40s out of one mesuage & one gardeyn called Warnettes & in fower pecys of lande in Fraunte in the saide countye of Kent (sic) at Sonyngleight.
To Allyn my sonne 4 acres called Hinglettes in Sandherst upon the dennes of Alderynden and Osingden when 21 and £10 or an anuytie of 13s 4d out of certayne lands called Bechefeld in Brenchley in occupacion of John Stonehard when 21 and £20, or one anuytie of 23s 4d out of 4 peceys of lande in Brenchley in occupacion of John Stonard when he comyth to the aidge of 21. Also one annuall rent of 26s 8d out of lands & tenements of Thomas Austen in Cranebroke & Stepulhurst when 21 and one anuytie of 26s 8d out of one messauge, two gardeyns, a gryndstone myll and 6 peacys of land in Gowdeherst now in occupacion of Rychard Roode when 21. Also £5 or one annuall rent of 6s 8d out of one mesuage, 2 gardeyns & 3 peacys of land of Nycholas Edward in Heighhalden when 21. My executors to receive all profits until my sons come to their age of 21. [They were each prohibited from alienating any part until they were 21 with power to the other brothers to enter & take their portions "after the custom of the countie".]
