William Edynden, of
the parisshe of Benynden. 12 April 1508. To be buried in the churchyerde
of Seynt George of Benynden. A taper of lb of wex to brenne in the
church bifore the ymage of Seynt John the bapte as long as het will
endure. Another taper of a lb of wex to brenne byfore thymage of Seynt
Erasmus, another of a lb bifore thymage of Seynt Mighell tharchangell,
another of half a lb bifore thymage of Seynt Antony, another of half a
lb of wex bifore thymage of Seynt Blase. An honest prest to synge in
church of Benynden for me, my fade & moder and all christian soules
& another in the church of Borne for my soule & for the soule of
John Taylor late of the said Borne 20s.
To Thomasyne Adam my doughter 20s. To Clemens my doughter 20s. To
Margaret Philippot my doughter 20s. To Stephyn Philpott a gowne clothe
price 6s 8d. To John Denneman my best gowne. To Thomas Wall my raife
gown & a payre of hosen next my best. To Richard Motar my russet
gowne. To John Edynden my son my russet gowne unlyned.
I will Stephyn Philpott, John Wyllard the yonger, Barthu Wulf, John
Telden, and Jamys Everynden the yonger, my feoffez and Jone my wife myn
executrice, betake to ferme all my londs in the best price that they can
till my purchas in Haukeherst at Wodysden bought of John Mercer theldre
be full paied, and the said lands at Wodisden fully paid my wife Jone to
have an annuytie of £4 by yere.
When the yongest of my sones cometh to thage of 21 I will all my lands
& tenements be equally devided amongs my sonnys. My feoffes to
deliver by deeds of rentre a state to William Byrchett of all suche
londs as he hath bought of me. Residue I geve the halfyndele to the
saide Jone my wif & that other halfyndele amongs my sonys. Jone my
wif to be executrice.
In presence of Stephyn Philpott, Thomas Lellysden, Wm Cuscheman, Jamys
Everynden the yonger. To Jone my wif all the wode & tymber I late
bought of Richard More at Cranebroke & all the wode at Scullysgate.
