In die nomine, Amen. 14 Sept. 1464. I John
Heansyll. To be buried in the churchyard of Saint
Laurence of Hawkherst next my wife on the north side of the church. To
each of my godsons 8d. Residue of all my goods not bequethed I give to
Margaret my wife, Alice Wattes my sister, John Asshbornham, Thomas
Mercer & James Attfurth, whom I constitute my executors. [Latin].
In the name of God, fadir, sone and holygost Amen I John Heansyll of
Hawkeherst the 12 Septr in the yere of our lord 1463 make demyse &
ordeygne this my last will. Jamys Aforthe my cofeffe after my deces
shall delyver a state of all my landes, tenements, rents & services
in Hawkeherst lying upon the Dennes of Stonden & Amboldeserst to
John Colpeper squyer, Thomas Roger, Richard Colpeper and John
Asshbornham in fee symple to the performaunce of my last will.
Margaret my wif shall have the Chamber over the parlor with draughte
therto in the place I dwelle in while she kepith hir sole nmaried and
Alice my suster to have the parlor and the wt draughte therto in the
said place & other aisements to her pleasur and 20s of money of my
lands terme of her life. William Bre(m)byll to have 13s 4d yerely terme
of his lif for the good service that he hath doo and shall doo to me
& Margarete my wif.
I will Jone my doughter remayne in the keping of John Assbornham til she
be of age of 15 or 16 yere and if she be maried by thaduyse of the said
John Assbornham, Sare his wife and Alice Wattes my susteres thanne my
saide feffes to make a state of all the lands etc called Stonden, Pelle,
Landswharp, Morefeld and Swyte to the said Jone in fee symple.
To the Freres of Lewes 20d. To Alice doughter of Laurence Heansyll
£100. I will Kateryn my suster have hir bequest according to the will
of my fadir and moder Simond Heansyll and Margret his wif. Item that the
churche of Asshbornham have 6s 8d, Dalyngton 20d, Brightlyng 3s 4d,
Salherst 3s 4d. The freres of Lesnam 20d. I will Stephyn Borne my
cofeoffe graunte to Margarete my wif landes etc to the valewe of £8
yerely. I will a preste for 100 yere to pray for my soule, John Wattes
soule & my frendez soules in the churche of Hawkeherst.
