John Mooer, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Tentwarden, Diocese of Canterbury, sick in body but whole in mind ‘Deo gratias’. In dominica palmarum 1489. To be buried in the chancel of Saint Mildred of Tentwarden. I leave to the reparation of the same chancel 10s, also to the reparation of the nave of the same church 13s 4d. To the said church one new gradual to serve God in the south side of the Choir. To the said church a book called ‘Pupilla oculi sacerdotis’ to be chained in the same part of the choir. To the same church A Common Gloss on the Gospels to be chained in the same part of the choir.
To the students of Christ Church Canterbury "Epistolas Jeronimi". Also "Concordancias biblie", "Tabulam super Augustinium", a book called "Introitus in Dionisium".
I leave to the students in Canterbury College, Oxford a book called "Magister sentenciarum".
To the College of Eton "Epistolas Augustini", also "Omelias Orignis super Matheum" also "Augustinum de Urbis Dni et Apostoli" also "Rabanum de Lodowicum".
To the students of the church of St Augustine outside the walls of Canterbury "Doctorem de Lira cum sua tabula".
To the College of Blessed Mary Magdalen, Oxford a book called "Alexandrum Nekam".
To the College of Wy, Canterbury Diocese, a book called "Thome Dockyng super deutronomio et Apocalipsis".
To the College of Assheford in the same diocese "Glosam Comnumen in Genesim", "Glosam communem in Jeremiam", "Glosam in parabolas Salamonis", "Glosam super Ysaia et Daniele", "Augustinum super Canonica Johannis", "Ysdorum de Summo bono".
To the House of Saint Thomas of Acres quantum ad proprietatem Librum Retractacionem Sancti Augustini ad usum vero Magistri Will’mi Wyresham for the term of his life to whom also I leave for the term of his life "Jeroninum super Ysayam et Danielemi" & after his death to the College of the blessed Mary Magdalen at Oxford.
To Sir John Gilford, Knight, a book "De diversis Cronicis et Historiis".
To Master Thomas Copland, rector of Bedynden a book called "Vitas patrum" and a book "Gregorii in Diologis et pastoralibus".
To Sir Richard Prutt, rector of Sandherst "Omelias Bede et Eusebii".
To Master Richard Willysfford "William Lynwoode super Constitucionibus Provincialibus" and "Josephum Antiquitatum".
To Master Robert Shefeld, rector of Chartham "Ambrosium super Commendaciones".
To Master Richard Stevyns "Tullus de Officiis".
To Master John Willyamson, rector of the church of St George, Canterbury "Laurencium de Valla cum quodam tractatu De Ordine indiciario".
To Master John Richardson, Cant’ (?of Canterbury) a book called "Belyall cum ceteris contentis".
To Sir William Page of Maydeston "Sanct.
Thomas de Veritatibus cum Cronica Martiniana" et aliis contentis in eodem volumine.
To Sir John Mathew, chaplain, "Franciscum de Marone et Hugone de Vienna super Eccliastice et Cantica canticorum".
To Sir John Carlesse a book "Virgilii in Eneidos" eum aliis contentis.
To Brother John Sandley, of the Order of Friars Minors, a book called "Damascensis meliorem".
To the House of Friars Minors of Wynchelse "Tabulam Reymundi".
To the Carmelite Brothers of Losenham 6s 8d. To the House of Modenden 3s 4d.
To Sir Thomas Doone "Innocentium de Contemptu mundi".
To George Aderton my kinsman my black "portiforium" "Veteres legende, tam temporali quam de Sanctis" written on paper. I leave to the same 40s by the hands of Thos Dekyn his brother.
I will above all things that my executors pay or cause to be paid to the same George 40s to be levied of my goods & this to be paid at their discretion to the exhibition of the same at Eton in the schools that he may there learn grammar so that he can attain the priesthood.
To Moises Pett my best featherbed. To Sir Thomas Lynaker, student at Florence* £10, to be sent to him by the honourable father of the house the Prior of the church of Canterbury, or his assigns. To the same Sir Thomas the undermentioned books viz Magister Sentenciarum printed Thucidides Historiarum Peloponencium printed. Tulliumi in Nova Rethorica, written on parchment. Two Greek books one printed the other written on parchment.
I leave to the Fraternity of Blessed Mary in the church of Tentwarden five marcs by the hands of Moyses Pitt or his assigns viz each year for ten years immediately following my death 6s 8d, to be found from the lands bought of Laurence Hevynden. If the said fraternity for any cause by their own fault do not cause the priest to celebrate for a quarter of a year then the 6s 8d to go to the sustentation of the chapel of Smalhith.
I leave to Thomas Ungyll a covering for the bed one blanket & one pair of sheets. To the fabric of the parish church of Ekylsall 40s. To the church of St Benedict next Buklerisbury, London, my glossed Psalterium there to be chained.
To Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Hoore in the same parish 3s 4d, and to Thomas the servant of the said Thomas Hore 20d. To Roger Asser of London & Johan his wife & Roger their son six silver spoones. To Sir John of Smalhith 10s. To Thomas’s wife my servant 3s 4d. To Hugh son of John Dave my godson 6s 8d. To Sir John Whyte of Benenden "Faciculum temporum ex eccliasticum in ceteris contentis".
Residue I leave to Master Richard Willisford & Moyses Pett my executors.
