THOMAS CORNELL of Marden, clothier, 14 February 1552. My soule to Almightie God my maker and Saviour and to all the blessed company of heaven and my body to be buried in Cristian buriall where God for yt shall dispose. To the boxe ordeyned for the poore in the churche of Marden wher I am a parishener 3s. 4d.
To Arthur Lambe my cozyn 20s; Mighell Cornell 20s. I remytt and releas James Blacke 53s. which he owith me and give him 20s. To John Goodwyn my cosyn 20s. To Joane Bredge my suster 40s. To Miltous wief 6s. 8d. To Isabell Cornell my susters doughter 6s. 8d. To Richard Roberts 3s. 4d. To Willyam Rowlandsone one cote cloth. To the said Richard Roberts one cote clothe. To Robert Lambe one cote clothe. To Richard Lambe do. To Arthur Lambe do. To Martha my welbeloved wief oute of all my good &e to the value of £10 and a yerely rent of £10 oute of all my lands and tenements for her dower and after her decease to remayne between my too children Willyam and Fraunces egally. To the said too children all my lands and tenements and parcells of landes called Knights Crosse of yerely value of £3. 6. 8. and another parcell of lande called Frettynden conteyning 8 acres of the yerely rent of 20s. I bought of Willyam Mascall. If either die before 21 then to remayne to thother.
I will that John Maynye, gentilman, shall have my parcell of Woodlande called Redd Buddells lying betwene Sele towne and Hevy Hatcher [now Ivy Hatch] conteyninge 40 acres which I have sold hym for £20 vpon alyking (sic), and if he will not have the same bargayne then my said two sonnes shall pay the said £20 ageyn to the same Mayny and they shall have the said parcell of wood grounde. Residue to my said two children William and Fraunces bitwene theym egally to be deuyded.
Martha my wief and said Willyam Cornell and Fraunces Cornell my sonnes to be executors, and ouerseers John Goodwyn citizen and marchauntaillor of London, Mighell Cornell, yoman and the siad James Black, sherman.
Witnesses: John Goodwyn, William Rowlandson, Arthur Lambe, Richard Lambe, Richard Roberts, James Black and Richard Thaxter seruant of the scrivener.
