RICHARD FREND of the parishe of Witresham 6 October 1556 (3 & 4 Philip and Mary). To be buryed in xpen buryall. At daie of my buriall amongste poore people 3 busshells of wheate being baked in breade and three barells of bere and in mony 20s.
Vnto Hamon Watt of Snargate one yerely rent of 6s. 8d. oute of my mesuage and lands wch Stephyn Gurman now dwellith in, during the space of 20 yeres.
To Thomas Freman and Robert Cruttenden to either one two yeringe heffer with a calf. To Stephyn Bromfylde one heffer budd. To olde mother Samon of Snargate 12d. To Thomas parson 12d. To my sister Potten 6s. 8d. To Edmond Gilbert 12d. To olde father Brokeman 20d. To John Rawlyn of Fairefylde 10s. To olde mother Standen of Apuldore 20d. To olde Wright, to Foulles widowe and Grenfylds widowe to euery of the 12d. To John Smythe and Thomas Smythe my wiffes sonnes 20s. To Thomas Harwarde my doughters sonne £10 at age of 21. To Anne Garwarde my doughter doughter £5 at her mariage or age of 18.
To poore of parish of Snargate and Farefylde 6s. 8d. vpon good Frydaie in Lent euery yere during the space of 20 yeres.
To John Cundytt a payre of hose and a peticote whiche I nowe weare. To John Cundytt to Horesby the bocher, to Brokeman and to John Symonds to euery of theym 12d. for their paynes to beare me to the churche. To John Potten of Snargate my marble coote and my butten cappe. To John Smythe and Edward Smythe sonnes of Robert Smythe 12d. To Margaret my seruaunt 3s. 4d. To Isabell Stopney of Snave one ewe.
Vnto Agnes my wief all the goodes that was her other husbandes now remayning to my custodie and £15 in money.
To ferme wherin I nowe dwell shall remain accordinge as Thomas Smythe by his last will hath appoynted.
Vnto the said Agnes half the corne now growing and she shall pay all suche debtes and legacies as the said Thomas Smythe her late husbande dyd owe at the tyme of his deathe except the debt due vnto John Smythe the dyker whiche I will that my executors shall paye and she shall save harmeless my executor for and concerning one obligation in which the said Thomas Smythe her late husband standith bounden unto Giles Davie and if she will not then to have no parte nor parcell of all the premisses that I wil that the same shall whollye remayne to Thomas Harward my sonne in lawe whome I make my sole executour and Thomas Harlackenden of Pluckley and George Awattill ouerseers.
Witnes: John Shether, Thomas Pyper, Ingram Hamon, Henry Hamon, James Goler, John Lewsey.
Last Will: of all my landes, tenements &e in the parishes of Farefilde, Snave, Snargate, Rokyng, Ebbeney and Tenterden. I will vnto the children of Elizabeth my doughter all my said lands in fee simple.
