JOHN NEWLANDE, yoman of the parysh of Wytresham in the yle of Oxney in Kent, 10 July 1541. To be buried where it shall please God. At my burieng v massis, also at my moneth day other v masses. At my yeres mynde v masses. I will there be the space of 6 yeres after my deceas done for me euery yere v masses. To high aulter of Watresham 12d. To the roode light 4d.
To my doughter Agnes £10 at her mariag and no more.
To my doughter Margaret £20 to her mariage.
To my doughter Mary £20 to her mariage.
I will Davy Newland my sonne shall have all my landes in the parrishes of Yvechurch, Pountney and Old Romney.
I will Arthure my sonne all m y landes in Rolvynden. I will both David and Arthure shall entre vppon the lands at the age of 24 yeres and not afore.
If Thomasyn my wif be wt childe by me John Newlande yf it be a man childe he shalbe equall wt his brother Davy and Arthure but yf it be a woman childe she shalhave £20 to her mariage wt her susters. [each brother the others heir and in default to their sisters].
Thomasyn my wif sole executrix. Syr. Nicholas Vncley, curate, to se my will performed and to have 5s.
Witnesses: John Cooper of Stone and William Hunt of Wytresham.
I will Thomasyn my wif shall have the keping of my children till they come to thage above expressed.
Proved 12 May 1547 by David Clapham, notary public, proctor for relict and executrix. (P.C.C. 37 Alen)
