8 Aug. 1532. Richarde Horsemonden of the parrishe of Brynchesley (Brenchley). To be buryed in the churche or churche yarde of Brynchesley. I will there be bestowid at my burying in masses and other deades of chaytie 26/8. At my monythes mynde 26/8, at my yeres mynd 10s. I will that there be bestowed in the churche of Goutherst yerely duryng the terme of ?vj yeres 6/8 in masses and other charitable deades. A preest to pray for me, my father, my mother, my brothers and susters and all Xten soules in the churche of Goutherst and Brinchesly £6.13.4. Unto Sir John Woderoff preest of Lambherst a gowne clothe to pray for me.
   Unto every one of my doughters Alis and Agnes as they come unto their marige £20.
   Unto Thos Mereham my servunte a cowe. Unto Richd Allen of Goutherst a cowe. Unto John Mapisden of Marden
carpenter a cowe.
   Residewe unto Dorathie my wife the which Dorathie and Thos Bereward my brother I make extours and John Love mercer overseer.
   This is: of all my landes, tenements etc. in the parrishes of Goutherst, Horsmonden, Marden, Lambherst and Harswell in Kent, Sussex and Hartefordshere. My feoffees shall suffre Dorathie my wife to take all the reasonable yerely yssues and proffytts abon all charges of all my said landes in the parishes aforeseid unto the tyme that John and Thos my sonnes comyth unto the age of 21 yeres.
   I will that Dorathie my wife pay unto every oon of my said sonnes John and Thomas as come unto the age of 21 £5. If yt may be founde by honest and credydable parsonnes of hir kinrede and myn that my said wife do not finde and kepe my said childern honestly as they shulde be kepte and my said sonnes kepte unto scole unto the tyme that they canne wryte and rede formeably as they come unto their laufull age then I will the said Thos Bereward shalhave the keping and finding of my said childerne and have £8 yerely and the said Thomas shall lette ferme all my said landes etc. to go unto the finding and exhibicon of my said childerne and my feoffees shall make a graunte of annytie to Dorathie my wife of £4 by the yere. If John and Thomas my sonnes decease then to my twoo doughters.
   I will John my sonne shalhave my meswage or tenement callid Springgetts, a gardeyne, a crofte of land, a wodd and a peace of lande of 4 acres togyther lying callid Horslezse and other iij peacs of lands the whiche one is callid Meanmede, the second Polefoteland, the third Hopemelfylde in the parrishe of Goutherst and when John comyth unto the age of 21 yeres the said John shalhave all the yerely yssues etc. until the tyme he comyth unto the age of 30 yeres and then my feoffees shall deliver astate unto him and his heires in fee symple paying unto his mother as yt is before wrytton yerely 40s.
   I will the said Dorathie his mother shalhave her chambre within the said meswage callid Springetts where as yt shall please her to be with free going and comying unto fyer and fleete duryng her wydowhed. If John decease before 30 yeres without heires then to remayne unto Thomas Horsemonden my sonne.
   I will the saide Thomas my sonne shalhave all my other landes oin Goutherst, Marden and Lambherst in Kent and Sussex and when 21 have the profytts etc. unto 30 and then have a state of all those londes and tenements paying unto his mother 40s yerely. If Thomas decease before 30 without heires then to remayn unto John Horsemonden my sonne.
   I will my extours shall sell my tenement at Hormonden and of the money £20 unto the mariage of one of my doughters and all the resydewe unto John my sonne.
   I will my extours shall sell my tenement and landes in Harthe fortheshere and the monney delyvered unto Dorathie my wife to the perfourmaunce of my said testament. If John and Thomas my sonnes decease before 30 and having no heyres I will all my said landes and tenements etc. shall remayne unto Dorathie my wife for terme of her life and after remayne unto Alice and Agnes my doughters. If all my childerne deceas without heires then afte the decease of Dorathie my wife Thomas Meryham my servunt shalhave my meswage and iij peaces of lande in Goutherst uppon Lysden I lately purchased of Richd Mereham unto hym and his heires in fee simple. I will that the said Thos Berewrd my brother shalhave vj peaces of land callyd Allen Watts lying uppon Lysdon to hym and his heires in fee simple.
   I will that Joane Horsemonden my suster shalhave all my landes and tenements in the parisshe of Horsmonden to her and her heires in fee simple. I will my extours shall sell all my other lands and tenements and the mony shall paye unto a honest preest seculier £10 to sing a great trentall in the parrishe churche of Goutherst and other £10 unto a preest seculyer to sing a greate trentall in the parrishe churche where ever yt shal happyn my body for to lye. To the necessary reparacon of the churche of Goutherst tenne poundes and of the churche of Horsmonden tenne pounds and of Brynchesley £10 and distribute £4 yerely unto poore people in egall porcions the space of vij yeres in penny dole in the churches of Goutherst, Horsmonden and Brynchesley betwene Shroftide and Easter
