18 Marche 1498. Thomas Pende citizen and draper of
London. To be buried within the chauncell of the parishe churche of Saynte
Petir in Cornhill in suche place there as I have shewed my mynde therof unto
Right Worship full Doctor Master John Bretayne parsonne of the said churche.
Toward the sustcon of the broderhod of Jhu within the saide churche 3/4.
Toward the repacons of the parisshe church of Farley in Kente
where I was [?born] xxs. My exors to ordeyn a preste to syng for my
sowle at the aulter of Saynte John in Northside of the churche of Saynte Petir
by ij hoole yeris.
My broder Robert Pende 20s for a gowne by discr. of
Johanne my wife. Unto John Pende his sonne my servant x mark within 2 yeris of
my decease. Unto my suster Johanne Bell 40s. Isabell Bell wife of
Roulande Bell a gowne clothe. Agnes Swetyng my servunt 20s. Unto
either of Adam Walle and Rofe Starky my servunts xs. Roger Haccher
of Mardenne in Kent 6/8 and a gowne of my weryng. Unto John Colyns my servunt
26/8. Every of my menyall servants dwellyng with me at the time of my decease
a blak gown.
Unto every of the vj personnes of the feloship of Drapers that
shall bere my bodie to the churche 20d.
Unto the broderhod of Saynt Nichas founded by the Clerkis of London 3/4. Unto
the Broderhode of 60 prestis of London 3/4.
[To prisoners in London prisons, Lagarhowis].
Unto the broderhed of Saynte Gile withowte Crepulgate 6/8 vj
torchis for my buryng and to Churche of St Petir ij, St Giles ij, Churche of
Farley where I was born the oder ij.
Residue of all my goods to Johanne my wife. This is of my mesis,
landes, etc. in Southwerk in Surre and in the towne of Colchester in Essex
wherin Johanne my wife and Laurens Ailemer, Citezen and draper of London stond
feoffed.
They to stond feoffed to thuse of same Johanne duryng her lie and
after her decease to thuse of the saide Laurence and of his heires he therwith
to performe my laste will (with power of sale) and for the comforte of my
sowle and the sowle of my saide wife whanne she shall passe from this present
life oure childrenne and frendis sowles. I make Johanne my wife my executrice
and her coexecutour the saide Laurence Ailemer and their overseer Maister John
Breteyn.
Probate 16 July 1499 by Nichs Rutlande scriptoris,
Johis Buknell and Alexr Mathewson and adm. to Johan relict and on
18 Dec to Laurence Aylmer.
