The first part of this Will is
written in Latin
12 March 1488. Jacobus Patynden of Lamberherst.

Thomas Patynden of Combewell. Katherine, wife, William Patynden.
This is of me James Patynden of Lamberherst, 12 Marche 4 Herry
VII of all my landes and tenements etc. my feoffees shall selle my messuage in
Lamberherst called Gervises with a gardyne and a croft therto and the money to
be paied unto the handes of Thomas Patynden, Prior of Combewell or to his
successours and disposid by there good discrecion.
I will Katherine my wife shall yerely pay unto Herry Patynden my
sonne 20s yere and have therfore duryng her lief the occupacon and
profitt of a messuage in Lamberherst callid Halpeneys and V pecis of land and
woode in Lamberherst called Curters conteyning 20 acres and after the deth of
said Katherine my feoffees shall make state unto the said Herry my son of the
said mesuage called Halpeneys and the V peceis of land and wood callid Cartors.
I will my feoffes shall deliver unto John Patynden my son a state
of alle my tenements callid Sprevers lying in Hormonden with alle the landes ?
and Courthold to the said tenement belongyng undre condicion he shall pay
yerely duryng all the lief of the said Katherine 13/4 annuall rent and for
defaute it shall be lefall for the seid Katerine to distresse and distren.
I will alle the Residue of my said other landes, etc. I will that
the said Katerine my wife shall therof the resonable issues and profitt duryng
her lief and after my feoffees shall make state unto Thomas Patynden my sonne
of my messuage the which now I dwell in lying in Lamberherst with a gardine
and also of a messuage being by the brigge of Lamberherst and also of certein
parcellis of land and woode in Lamberherst called Stunts conteyning 30 acres
of land and woode.
After deth of said Katerine my feoffees shall make state unto
Nicholas Patynden my sonne of alle my tenement called Le Hale with a barne
theruppon bilded in Lamberherst and also of iij pecis of land in Horsmonden
called Whitefeld Berefeld and Beremede.
I will after the deth of the said Katerine my wife that if the
said Katerine be nowe charged with an heyre male that then the said heire male
aftre the deth of said Katerine shall have alle my lands and tenements etc
before not assigned that is to say Rutuyndens and Rutuyndens mede bering the
charge of a light afore oure lady in the chirche of Lamberherst like as it is
assigned by the last will of Herry Fraunces.
Also a mede called the Mede at Downe lying in Wadehurst
conteyning 4 acres. Also of a mesuage with gardyns and ij pecis of land lying
togeders called le Hallys with the quijte rent that therto belongith.
Also of a messuage and a garden unto lying called le Rul with a
litill Pigntill of land lying in Maghfeld to the lordes mede there.
Nevertheless I will and nede be that parcell of the saide londs assigned to
the said heire male be sold to ayde the paiement of my dettis and bequestis,
That is to sey Meleam and Cuttid Thorn, the tenement of Hallis. Also the
messuage being at Maghfeld.
If my wife be nowe charged with a wooman child that then my wife
shall make the issues etc of all the said londes etc. assigned to the seid
heir male tyll that Thomesyn my doughter comith to hir mariage and then the
said landes to be sold by the best price and the money y’of comyng £10 to
the mariage of Thomesyn my doughter and other £10 to the mariage of the said
woman child if such be. Yf noon suche be thenne I will that noon landes etc.
be sold for the mariage of my said doughter Thomesyn but whenne she comith to
hir mariage £10 paied to hir and that to be levied of my meveables.
