6 Jan, 36 Henry VIII 1544. Wylliam Creswell of Sutton at hone in Kente gentilman. To be buried in parishe churche of Sutton.
   To Thos Kyllinge Worthe and George Kyllinge Worthe my sonnes in lawe my measuage called Heckstable (Hextable) with all barnes, stables, kytchen and howes theruppon sett and bulded forthe with all landes, woodes, etc. in Sutton and also in the parrishes of Wylmyngton, Orpington and Chelsfelde. To John Colyns my kynnesman my purchased landes woodes, etc. in Stonehilde in the parishes of Wylmyngton and Detforde (sic) I late purchased of Roberte Lambe and Symon Welshe. If he dye without issue to remayne to Hughe Creswell my sonne and in defaute to Edwarde Colyns and for defaute to nexte of my kynne.
   To Elizabethe my wife allthoughe she hathe bene verye unkynde and unnaturall more then I will or entende to expresse and declare whiche God forgeve her and howbeit I have bene at greate charge in payinge for the terme of the landes and tenements in her occupynge and have had no profitts of the same nevertheles I geve and bequethe to the saide Elizabethe my wife all those my goodes and cattells quicke and dead onlye whiche were her owne before the daye of my marryage with her and nowe in her possesson and kepinge trewlie payinge all my debtes legacies bequestes and all other debtes growynge and to be grown and due by her occupynge and by all manner of wayes and meanes to be due by her or by her other husbande and to fulfil the will in all poyntes of her saide other husbande and to release all right she hathe and claymethe to have for her joynter in my lands and tenements at Heckstable and that then the said Thos and George Kyllinge Worthe shall paye yerelie unto her 40s a yere durying her life [with power of distress]. [If she refuse then to have no part or advantage of my said legacy and said goodes to my extours].
   To Thos Kyllinge my table at Heckstable in the hall, my cubbourde in the parlour there, twoo greate chestes, a malte myll, the wateringe fatt and the troughes, my carte and my plowes and all the apparrell. To George Kyllinge his mothers beste girdell and my crosse bowe. To John Colyns my kynnesman my beste fetherbed in the parlour, my best Blacke chamblet gowne, my dublet of purple satten, my velvet jacket, my thre paier of hose, my lether dublet, my balde horsse saddell and bridel and the cheste that my writinges lieth in.
   To Hugh Creswell my sonne Julyan Creswell and Elizabethe Creswell my doughters everie one a fetherbedd (and belongyngs). To my said children my blacke gowne faced with lambe and three brode yardes of Redd clothe to make them Raymente. To Wylliam Kyllingworthe my mazer. To Hughe Creswell my sonne my tawny chamblet gowne furred with fox and a satton dublet. To saide Hughe my sonne my none Browne baye Horsse. My blacke balde geldinge be soulde and money amonges my saide children and John Colins my kinnysman and to them my bras pewter ?latten and v paier and one sheate equally to be distributed.
   To John Colyns my kinesmann twoo oxen called Browne and Shell. To Hughe my sonne twoo oxen called tegge and Gore. To Julyan my doughter 2 oxen called Garlonde and Goldinge. To Elizabeth my doughter twoo browne kyen. To Edwarde Colyns my browne bull.
   And where I have solde divers woodes to Wylliam Proveste, Richd Priour, Thos Kyllingworthe and Henrie Richarde and receyved the monneye I will they shall take the same woodes quietlie.
   Residue of all goodes etc, plate, juells as well at Heckstable or ells where and in the handes of saide Elizabethe my wife unbequethed I geve to my extour to paye my debtes etc. and residue to John Colyns my kynnesman, Hughe Creswell my sonne, Julyan and Elizabethe Creswell my doughters by my extour whome I make John Bere of Datforde Squier and Wm Proveste of Sutton and Richarde Priour of Datforde supervisours.
   Witness Richarde Ifelde, Robart Coufylde, Thos Spackman, John Holliworthe of Datford and Thos Alyn of Swanley and other William Creswell, Thomas Alyn Hollynworth (sic).
   Probate coram dno Cantuaren Archiepo apud London 7 July 1546 by Ric. Ifelde, Robt Cofelde and Thos Spackman and John Bere exor.
