26 July 1746, Release pursuant to Marriage Settlement

Parties – Thomas Turner of Lincoln’s Inn, Esquire (1), and William Hammond of Canterbury, Esquire, only surviving child of William Hammond late of St Albans, Nonington, Kent, Esquire deceased by Mary his wife, eldest daughter of Thomas Turner the elder, late of Ileden in parish of Kingston, Kent, Esquire, also deceased (2). 

Reciting Marriage Settlement of 3 November 1704 between said Thomas Turner the elder (1), said William Hammond the  father (2), the said Mary by the name of Mary Turner, eldest daughter of said Thomas Turner the elder (3) and fferdinando Penkhurst, late of Bucksted Place in parish of Bucksted, Sussex, Esquire, the said Thomas Turner party hereto by the name of Thomas Turner  of Lincoln’s Inn, gentlemen and Zachariah Kingsford, late of Canterbury deceased (4).

In consideration of a marriage afterwards solemnized between said William Hammond the father and Mary Turner the said Thomas Turner the elder granted to said William Hammond the father The messuage or tenement and ffarm commonly called Rowling ffarm with the barne, etc. and the severall pieces of land arrable and pasture thereto belonging containing by estimation 23 acres situate in Goodnestone and Woodnesborough, Kent, late in the occupation of Richard Goodban and then of Thomas Neame.

And also the Mannor or reputed Mannor of Lorenden Alias Cades and the messuage or tenement together with the barne etc. to the said Mannor, messuage or tenement belonging And all the lands arrable, meadow, pasture and wood containing in the whole by estimation 50 acres situate in the Parish of Ospringe, Kent, heretofore in the occupation of John Platt, late of Jonathan Ellis then of Thomas Belcham and William Tadhunter and now of Robert Turley. 

And the little messuage or tenement sometimes called Pamphetts in Ospringe aforesaid theretofore in the possession of John Harris late of the said Thomas Belcham and William Tadhunter and now of the said Robert Turley. 

And the piece of ground containing by estimation 4 acres in Ospringe late also in occupation of the said John Harris then of said Thomas Belcham and William Tadhunter and now of said Robert Turley.

Trusts – To William Hammond the father for life, then to said Mary for life, then for benefit of children in tail, 

And reciting that said William Hammond had issue by the said Mary his wife the said William Hammond party hereto and 4 other sons and 1 daughter who all died without issue so that said William Hammond party hereto is the only son and only child who was living at time of the death of the survivor of his father and Mother.

And reciting that said ff P and Zachariah Kingsford are both dead Conveyance by said Thomas Turner of all the said premises to the said William Hammond party thereto and the heirs of his body.
