Chelsfield Wills - Part 1  Abstracts of will from Chelsfield proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Robert Wrighte of Chelsfield dated 15 November 1625

Abstract of the will of Robert Wrighte of Chelsfield yeoman dated 15 November 1625.
   I wish to be buried near unto my Parents to rest in hope of a joyful resurrection.
   I leave to Godly uses ten shillings to be ordered by my Executrix.
   If my wife bring forth a daughter I give such daughter £40 at age 18 or at marriage, whichever is sooner.
   To the Preacher of my funeral sermon 6s.8d.
   I leave all residue of personal estate to my wife Alice, whom I appoint my Executrix.
   I appoint my well-beloved father in law Thomas Causten and my good friend William Haminge Overseers of my will and give them 12d. each for their pains.
   As to my tenements and lands, I give my wife all of them until my son or sons are aged 16, for the bringing up of them.
   To my son and sons (if God send me other son beside that which I have already) I give to the one or the two 40s. each yearly at age 16 until they accomplish 21 years. I give them at age 21 the half of all my tenements and lands, to them and their heirs for ever; the other half I leave to my wife for life, then to my son or sons and their heirs equally, for ever.

Proved 9 May 1626 by Alice Wright widow the relict.       [PCC will PROB11/149]
