Chelsfield Wills - Part 1  Abstracts of will from Chelsfield proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Mary Streater of Chelsfield dated 8 July 1742

Abstract of the will of Mary Streater of Chelsfield, being aged, dated 8 July 1742.
   I give to my loving husband John Streater husbandman one house, one orchard and two acres of land and appurtenances which is now in the occupation of Fran: Richards of Sutton, Kent, for the term of his life, and on his death it is to return to Elizabeth Jones my cousin, the wife of John Jones blacksmith living in Otford, Kent, for the term of her life, and after her death to return to the daughters of the said John and Elizabeth Jones viz Elizabeth and Mary Jones, for them and their heirs for ever to be equally divided between them.
   If either of them should die without heirs of her body then her part is to return to her sister.
   I give to my cousin Edward [? indistinct in photocopy] Lawrence one shilling and to Sarah Lawrence his sister one shilling.
   I appoint my husband John Streater as Executor.
   Mary X Streater Witnesses, Robert Bartholomew, Mary Know, Daniel Mace.
   I John Streater of Chelsfield 26 February 1742/43 having this day heard this within written last Will and Testament of my beloved wife Mary Streater do allow of all things that has been given and bequeathed or disposed of by my said beloved wife.
   John Streater Witnesses Eliz: Everest Wm: X Powell Danl: Mace.
9 July 1744: adminstration with will annexed granted to Elizabeth Jones the wife of John Jones the neice, next of kin and principal legatee named in the will, John Streater the husband and Executor named having died before he took upon him the execution thereof.
