Mary Aynscomb
of Chelsfield dated 4 June 1787
Abstract of the will of Mary Aynscomb of Chelsfield widow dated 4 June 1787.
I wish to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix.
I give the messuage, farm and lands called Lillys with the houses,
gardens, lands, woods and appurtenances belonging in Chelsfield, now in the
occupation of my aunt Mrs. Barbara Judd, and also my messuage or tenement
heretofore in the occupation of John Winson and now of William Gear, at
Chelsfield, and all other my real estate whatsoever (subject to the estate of my
aunt Barbara Judd in one moiety thereof for life) to my dear daughter Mary
Harris and her assigns during her lifetime, she keeping the buildings and fences
in sufficient repair;
"and from and immediately after the determination of that
estate by forfeiture or otherwise I give and devise the same unto my friend
Richard Waring of Reynold Smith, St. Mary Cray, surgeon and his heirs during the
natural life of my said daughter Mary Harris In Trust to support the contingent
uses and estates hereinafter limited from being barred or destroyed and for that
purpose to make entries and bring actions as occasion shall be and require But
nevertheless to permit and suffer my said daughter Mary Harris or her assigns to
receive and take the rents issues and profits thereof to her and for her and
their own or [sic] uses during her natural life and from and after her decease I
do give and devise the same unto and to the use of all and every the children
(if more than one) of her my said daughter lawfully begotten or to be begotten
equally as tenants in common and to the heirs of their several and respective
bodies " each to be the other’s heir.
For want of heirs, I leave the estate to my own right heirs for
ever, and it shall be lawful for my daughter when in possession to grant leases
of the same or any part thereof for terms of up to 21 years.
All my money, stocks, household goods and chattels I leave to my
daughter Mary Harris, she paying any just debts and funeral and testamentary
expenses.
I appoint my daughter Mary Harris my sole Executrix.
Mary Aynscomb witnesses Enoch Holding Sarah Geare Richard May
Codicil dated 10 August 1787 – I appoint my friend Mr. Richard Waring as
Executor with my daughter Mary Harris and leave him five guineas in
consideration of any trouble he may have in his Executorship.
Mary Aynscomb witnesses Sarah Geare Enoch Holding
Proved 3 October 1793 by Mary wife of James Harris the daughter, with power
reserved to Richard Waring.
