Founded in 1857, the Kent Archaeological Society has following objectives:

To promote the study and publication of archaeology and history in all their branches, especially within the ancient County of Kent.

The Society’s interests are not confined to fieldwork. Its objectives cover archaeology and local history in the widest sense. They include historic buildings, genealogy, industrial archaeology and local history.

Industrial archaeology events to look forward to

2020 already looks like being a packed year of stimulating and interesting events. Industrial Archaeology enthusiasts are being well catered for with two events scheduled:

  • A study day, by KAS affiliated group the Ashford Archaeological and Historical Society, focusing on topics around the development of industry and applied industrial technology.

  • The South East Regional Industrial Archaeology Conference (SERIAC), which was last year hosted by KAS, and this year by our friends at the Greater London Industrial Archaeology Society.

All members interested in Industrial Archaeology in Kent can contact the KAS Industrial Archaeology Committee for more information about activities and research in the county.
