Ledger Stones in Kent churches
Robert COBB
1727 St Nicholas Church, New Romney
Out of a ducal coronet a
demi leopard ramp. Chev between 3 cocks Chev between 3 bulls heads
couped. Here lieth interred ye body of Robert COBB / sometime mayor of
this town and port / son of Robert Cobb of Reculver. / He married
Catherine the daughter of Thomas Curteis? of Ashford by whom he left
issue four sons viz John, Robert, Thomas and Benjamin. He departed this
life 15 day of December 1727 aged 55 years. Also the bodies of Catherine
his wife who died May the 5th 1751 aged 75 years. Catherine daughter of
Benjamin and Catherine Cobb who died the 9th of the same
month aged 3 years. Noted by Leland L. Duncan
