Alexander TANNER, 20 March 1496-7.
Buried in Capela of St Leonard before Image of St Michael.
High altar 8d. To operibus of the chapel 10s. Light of the Lamp burning before the Great Cross 2s.
To Hospital of St Bartholomew of Hyeth after death of my wife 3s.4d.
Wife Margerie have a bowl called a maser harnessed with silver and gold.
To my two sons and three daughters, each one a silver spoon, the residue of the spoons to wife Margerie.
Son Thomas four flew nets, four shot (mackerel) nets and a sprot net, a maund (wicker basket) of hanns (?hooks), half the boat (symbam) called John, my wife having rule thereof until Thomas is 22.
Son William after death of my wife half one boat called Petyr and my girdle for his life, then the girdle to Thomas my son. After death of Thomas to the Chapel to honor St Michael.
To parish chaplain 20d. Parish clerk 4d. Henry HARMEN 12d.
Wife Margerie have my tenement in Middle Ward of Hyeth for her life.
My chief tenement after my death be sold by Executors, the money – Emma my daughter 26s.8d, Agnes my daughter 20s. Thomasyne my daughter 26s.8d. and to sons William and Thomas 20s. each, and to Margerie my wife 40s.
To three poor men and three poor women six pairs of shoes, 6d. the pair, yearly at Christmas for six years after my wife’s death.
Residue of the money my Executors pictant tabulam ultra caput (paint board behind or over) St Michael in the Chapel with the best bito (?pitch) and stars of gold called ‘bornegold’ of the best; and that they make ferramatis erga (?iron rod against) same Image, with a linen cloth.
Residue of money disposed for our souls in pious uses, alms, etc.
My building called Le Logge (Lodge or hut) near the sea and one ferno (windlass) with the cable be sold, the money disposed in the Chapel as long as it will last.
Residue of my goods to wife Margerie who with Thomas SAMWELL my Executors, and John LOWYS overseer, each have 3s.4d.
That immediately after my death my Executors shall see if it be possible to have a man to go as far as the place of St James in Galis* and he be given 20s. to make my offering.
