ISAACK, Esquire, as by deed 9 January 14 Henry VII (1498-9).
Wife Elyce a messuage with lands in Lymberough for her life, also yearly
rent of 13s.4d. out of lands of Richard FINEUX in parish of St Margaret
next Dover; another 13s.4d. yearly out of a toure (sic) and
garden in Dover called Cowgate; 8s.8d. yearly out of St Bartilmewes
Place next Dover; and wife therewith maintain my three children –
James, Thomas, Florence until 21.
Also Elyce shall bear out of the messuage in Lymborough (sic) to
Alice ASPNHAM (sic) and her heirs 20s. so that she make no claim
to my Manor of Godneston. Also the said Alice (sic) have 23s.4d.
out of my lands in Berrleys beside Dover, and four seames of barley
yearly out of West-clyff (sic) aside Dover, all for her claim in
the Manor of Godneston by the Will of William TOKE* her father (see
Wingham, Fol. 56), and if Elyce die before John, Thomas and Florence
are 21, then James my Feoffee received all the profits, and he keep the
children until 21.
After death of Elyce my wife the messuage in Lymbrough to my son James
and his male heirs for ever. If no issue to Rauf and his male heirs for
ever.
After death of Elyce my wife the yearly rents in Dover, St Margaret’s
and St Bartilmews to my son Thomas and his heirs male for ever; in
default to Rauf and his heirs.
Son Rauf have my Manor at Godneston will all lands, rents, services, and
to his heirs male for ever, when Rauf is 21, meantime James (sic)
my Feoffee receive all profits from maintenance of Rauf.
If Rauf, James, Thomas die without issue male, the Manor of Godneston
with lands, etc. to James ISAACKE and his heirs for ever, paying to my
daughter Alice 40s. yearly until £10 be paid out of my Manor of
Godneston to her marriage, before the 21 year of said Rauf. If not so
married, then Rauf pay the £10 or residue not paid. If Alice die before
money is paid then to Florens my daughter.
Witnesses – John LANGLEY, squyer, Robert QUYLTER, John FRODE, Henry
CRISTIAN.
That is, any interruption, claim, interest at any time hereafter be made
by Alice ASHEBURNEHAM, her heirs or assigns, of and upon my Manor of
Godneston, or any parcel thereto pertaining, or if said Alice refuse to
make a fine to my son Rauf and his heirs male, as by my Will, according
to her agreement for her part that she lately claimed of the said Manor,
by the Will of William TUK her father, then my cosen James ISACK shall
have and keep the Manor with all rents, services, fines, etc. to him and
his heirs for ever, on condition he or his heirs make a lawful estate of
and upon lands and farms to the yearly value of ten marcs (£6.13s.4d.)
above the charges to my son Rauf and his male heirs for ever.
To be buried in the Church of Godneston beside Jone my wife.
High altar 2s. Light of Corpus Christi 6s.8d.
Wife Elyce have all the profits and crops upon the grounds of my Manor
of Godneston up to next Michaelmas, paying all my debts, etc.
Son Rauf 40s. to find him at school until next Michaelmas.
Wife Elyce have my sheep, bullocks, kine and hogs, the linen stuff, and
residue.
Executor – Wife Elyce, with James ISAAK, squire, and John LANGLEY,
squire, overseers.

*William TOKE of Wingham, in which Church he was buried in 1471, had
a daughter Alice, but makes no mention of Goodneston Manor (Wingham,
Fol. 56).
