Will of Vincent BOYS of Goodnestone next Wingham 1 Oct 1558

Vincent BOYS*, 1 October 1558.
My body to the earth.
On day of my burial 20s. to poor people.
Wife Mary 30 seames of wheat, 40 of barley, 200 coppes of podware, six kine, six horses with their harness, a cart, two courtes, one plough, 40 ewes, 60 wethers, and have profit from same for her life, then remain to John my eldest son for his stock.
Son John six silver spoons with knopps parcel gilt after death of my wife, also the hanging table, cubboard, 12 joined stools, two chairs, six carpets, cushions, two window cushions of green damask, being the furniture of my parlour. The hanging trussing bed etc, and the cubbord in room over the parlor.
Son Thomas after death of my wife one trussing bed with all thereto.
Son William after death of my wife the cubboard standing in the hall.
Mildred, Judith, Bennett and Margaret my daughters, every one £15 when 21 or marriage, but if my daughters be not ruled by my wife and my brother Thomas HONNYWOOD in their marriage, they to take no benefit.
Also to Mildred, Judith, Bennett £5 each at their marriage, the gift of John HONNYWOOD their grandfather.
Sons Thomas and William after death of my wife each have 20 bushels of wheat and of barley.
Residue of goods after paying debts, etc. to wife Mary my Executor, with Thomas HONYWOOD overseer.
Lands, tenements, etc. in Goodneston, Hedcorn, Frittenden, Smarden. Wife Mary have for life all income from the same, to provide my sons until they are 21, then pay yearly out of the Hedcron lands £8 to son John, and to son Thomas £6.13s.4d. and son William £5.
All houses, lands, tenements in Goodneston, after death of my wife to son John and his heirs for ever. If he die under 21 without issue, to my son Thomas and his heirs for ever. If Thomas die under 21 without issue, then to my son William.
The lands late my uncle’s Edward BORDEN in Hedcron after death of my wife to my son Thomas and his heirs for ever. If he die under 21 without issue then to John BOYS and his heirs for ever.
After death of my wife, my lands in Hedcron, Frittenden and Smarden which were my uncle’s Thomas BORDEN, to my son William and his heirs. If he die before 21 without issue, then to my son John for ever.
Witnesses – John HENIKER, William SHERWOOD, Stephen MARSHE, Vincent BOYS.
