Leonard HOLNEST of Ebbeney, 27 February 1526-7.
Buried in the churchyard.
To high altar for tithes 6d. To the Rode Light there 4d. Of St Thomas and St Peter each 4d.
For the day of my burial my Executor dispose for my soul 5s; for my month’s day 5s; my year’s mind 3s.4d.
Juliane and Joane my daughters to their marriages in money and moveables six marcs £4, each to be the other’s heir. Residue after debts, etc. are paid unto Agnes my wife, my Executor, with Richard HOLNEST of Betresden overseer. And every day he doth labor about my Will to have 6d.
Witnesses – Sir Richard RAYE, chantry priest, John ALMOND.
Richard DYRYNG, gentleman, James PIERS, John LODAR, Edmund HOLNEST, Richard HOLNEST, John ANDREWE, William POTYN and John AT SNOTHE, Feoffees of my messuage and all my lands in Betresden, shall suffer Agnes my wife to occupy and take the profits during her life, then to John my son, if of the age of 24 years, if not of that age, to receive profits until he cometh to that age. If he die before that age without heirs, messuage etc. to my daughters Juliane and Joane and their heirs for ever.
