Abstract of Will from Snave, Kent from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Simon PARNELL of Snave, Kent 10 July 1510

Simon PARNELL of Snave, 10 July 1510 (sic).
Buried in churchyard next grave of my father[Adam PARNELL, died 1485].
High altar for tithes 4s, of Brenset 3s.4d, Light of Holy Cross at Snave 12d, of St Mary my silk paschal.
To the enclosure (clausuras) of the churchyard, yearly for ten years, 10d.
Walter HENER my servant one acre of corn and of barley, a red bullock.
My Executors have celebrated during 20 years in Snave church for my soul and all faithful departed, six masses yearly.
Wife Eme the third part of all my grain both growing and in the buildings, three of the best cows, two bullocks, a gelding. Son Thomas three cows. Joan my daughter two cows.
Residue to son John who with Thomas WAREN my Executors, with William PARNELL of Wynchellse overseer.
Witnesses – Hamon WHITE, Nicholas CLARKESON.
John my eldest son the messuage I dwell in with two acres of land, also 16 acres called Cowlese, eight acres called the Eastland, 16 acres in Snave and Brensett, and to heirs of John for ever.
Wife Eme have income from all my other lands, tenements in Snave, Ivechurch, Brensett for 16 years, paying scots, etc, then to son Thomas one half, and wife have other half, until John PARNELL my youngest son is 20, then to him.
