Abstract of St Lawrence Thanet Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Thomas SEYNT NICHOLAS 25 July 1493
 of St Lawrence Thanet

The Feast of St James the Apostle 25 July 1493, before us – Sir Nicholas FOOKS, vicar of the parish church of St Lawrence in Isle of Thanet, John BAKER, Roger PAWLYN, Richard GOTISLE and Richard YOE of said parish, yeoman.
Thomas SEYNT NICHOLAS of the said parish, Esquire, expresseth this last Will and Testament.
Buried in Chancel of Our Lady in the Church.
To the high altar and to every Light of which I am a Brother and to the church work such a portion of money as Katherine my wife shall give of her own free will.
Wife Katherine have all my moveable and other goods, living or dead, to pay my debts and do for my soul.
Executors – Wife Katherine and Edward HORDEN, gent, with John PETIT, gent of the parish of St John in Thanet, overseer.
Feoffees – Harry FEREYS, Knight, Alexander CLIFFORD, Edward FERRYS, Richard CULPEPER, Lewes CIFFORD Esquires, William HEDE and John PETIT, gentleman.
Wife Katherine have, hold and occupy all my said lands, houses and tenements with appurtenances for her life, then at her death to Alexander my son, my Mansione called Manston with all lands thereto, when he is of lawful age and to his heirs for ever.
Son Lowes when of full age my lands and woods in the parish of Wodchurch and Birchington, and to his heirs for ever.
Daughter Elisabeth £40 to her marriage.
