Abstract of St Lawrence Thanet Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of John LAMBYN 6 Jan 1494-5 of St Lawrence Thanet

John LAMBYN of St Lawrence in Thanet, 6 January 1494-5.
Made in the presence of Sir Nicholas FOOKS, Vicar of the said parish, Roger SAUNDER, Thomas JERREY, junior, Thomas JOHN and John KEMP of the said parish.
Buried in the churchyard.
To the Vicar for my forgotten tithes 20d. To every Light of which I am a Brother 4d. A priest to sing and pray for soul of Joan OXINDEN my mother and all Christian souls for half a year five marcs (66s.8d.).Also for a priest to sing for my soul for quarter of a year 13s.4d.
Wife Joan all instuff of my hall chamber and kychyn and the third part of all grain and cattle and the second part of same to Thomas, Robert and Roger my sons equally between them; and the third part to Roger PAWLYN and Robert OXINDEN my Executors to dispose for my soul.
That Robert OXINDEN have one acre of land at Clevysend between the land of Roger SAUNDER west and to his heirs for ever.
Isabelle KEMP have two acres at Ramysgate and to her heirs for ever.
As much land as necessary to be sold to pay debts, etc.
Wife Joan have all other lands and tenements until sons Thomas, Robert and Roger come to age of 21 years, then son Thomas have my tenement at Hayne and third part of all my lands and to his heirs for ever.
Son Robert when 21 have my barn at Collyswood and third part of all my lands and to his heirs.
Son Roger when 21 have my chief tenement at Cleveysende and the other third part of my lands, and to his heirs.
Each son have land most convenient to his tenement. If any son died before 21, his share to the others, but if all sons so died, then at death of wife Joan all to be sold and money disposed for my soul, to the church work, repair of bad roads, to poor people, etc.
