Abstracts of Littlebourne Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Thomas INKPETT of Littlebourne 21 June 1493

Thomas INKPETT of Litilborne, 10 March 1492-3.
Buried in the churchyard.
   High altar for tithes 8d. Light of Holy Cross 4d. Light of St Christopher 4d. Light of St Mary 4d.
My Ex’ors and Feoffees have made a new Herse for 8 tapers, each one weighting 1¼ lbs, to burn upon the Herse in the church of Litylborne, according to fascionem et staturam of the Herse in the church of Elmysted; and to the maintenance of the Herse and tapers one cow.
   To the Light of St John in Elmsted Church 8d; of St Christopher there 8d, of St Nicholas there 8d, of St Mary there 8d, of St James there 4d, of Holy Cross there 4d. To the Friars Augustine, Canterbury 40s.
Joan my wife have a cow.
   Thomas TRESSAR, John SNOTH and Michael INKPETT all my growing corn in parish of Lytilborne, or in my Barn.
Daughter Elisabeth 4 marcs [53s4d] when she is 16.
Daughter Katherine 4 marcs at 16.
Mentions Henry, son of Michael INKPETT my brother.
