Abstracts of Littlebourne Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Dionise DAVISON of Littlebourne 19 May 1515

Dionise DAVISON, widow of Litleborne, 7 December 1528.
Buried in the Church before Our Lady altar.
   Light of St Vincent 4d; of the Rode 4d; of Our Lady for the breaking of the ground where my body shall be laid 6s.8d. and if any pewes or anything in the church be hurt or harmed by the making of my burial, lawful amends to be made by my Ex’ors.
   To St Leonards taper a 1lb. of wax; to St Christopher a 1lb. of wax; to St George 1lb. of wax.
   To the church for the maintenance of the aforesaid tapers, one each before St Leonard, St Christopher, St George, one cow, the three tapers to be maintained in the church of Lileborne with the profit from the cow for ever.
   To the Light of St Erasmus in the church a lb. of wax; and to maintenance of the Trinity taper 1lb. of wax. Also to Our Lady altar a towel.
   Dom Robert my son have my best feather bed with all thereto, a pair of the best sheets, 12 pieces of my best pewter vessels, i.e. four plates, four dishes, four saucers, two of the best candlesticks, best salt cellar, brass pot, chaffer of brass to stand before the fire, two spits and best chest.
   To my sister [not named] my second bed.
   Residue after paying debts, etc. to Dom Robert my son and Ex’or to dispose for my soul, my husband, etc.
   With Sir Thomas BROWNE, vicar of Litleborne, overseer, and have 3s.4d.
   Witnesses – Dom Thomas BROWNE, vicar, Gererd WHITSTEALE, John OOSHER, Peter LAURENCE.
