A guided walking tour of Shorncliffe, Folkestone, on Saturday 7 May 2016

A guided walking tour of Shorncliffe, Folkestone, on Saturday 7 May will give visitors an opportunity to discover where for more than 200 years the area prepared to defend the Kent coast against invasion and trained infantry soldiers for the battlefield.

Organized by the Kent Archaeological Society’s Historic Defences Group, the tour will be led by volunteers from the Shorncliffe Trust, which is creating the UK’s first Heritage Park and Education Centre dedicated to the history and legacy of the modern British Army.

The three-mile walk will start at 10am at the junction of West Road (B2063) and Sandy Lane, Shorncliffe.
