‘The Baedeker Raid on Canterbury – 75 years on’ Sat 3 June 2017 Canterbury

The event commences with refreshments on arrival at 09:30, and there will be a photographic exhibition in the Foyer. Dr Martin Watts will give a brief introduction at 10:00. Professor Kevin Ruane will then deliver a talk describing the background and context of the raid, which will be followed by refreshments at 11:00.

At 11:15, Jordan Newton, a third year undergraduate at CCCU, will talk about the raid itself, and the final talk will be delivered by visiting Professor Paul Bennett, Director of Canterbury Archaeological Trust.

The session will end with a 10 minute film presentation by Tim Jones.

There are only 25 places available and tickets need to be booked in advance for the walk to explore some of the locations mentioned in the morning.
